Hi, I am having troube recording my meals today. Is anyone else having problems saving an entry? It could just be my laptop but it seems to be working on everything else. Thanks

Bronwyn

Bronwyn Minnie Hi Margaret, does it just not save or what does it do as mine seems fine

Question: When doing the Dashboard Calculation for client's frame size, what frame do we select if the result using one wrist measures SMALL, whilst the other wrist measures MEDIUM? I myself fit into this category. I personally use the smaller frame size for my AWESOME weight calculation (but err on upper limits of this calculation, when determining food portions, carb tolerances etc because my Medium calculation says I need to gain weight). That is, I fall in between the AWESOME weight for SMALL and MEDIUM.

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs I would calculate both and then average the answer....

Evening everyone. I have started Banting a few times and never stuck with it. I started again a week ago and subscribed to the Real Meal Revolution. And, as always, I am back to my tummy not working properly again. Many people have complained on various groups that I have joined about constipation. Does anyone know why this happens? I am drinking 1.5 litres of water plus daily. I am eating veg and protein and fat.

Bronwyn

Bronwyn Minnie Hi Cheryl, maybe try adding a magnesium supplement, also do you get any gut fertilizing foods in?

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs It is completely normal to get a bit of blokus as you change fuel types. If you scroll down you will see I had a chat with Alouise last week on the same subject. Raw apple cider vinegar in water before you eat. And psyllium husk in Jonno's nutty crackers every day and Browyns suggestion is great. Some ladies take up to 600mg of magnesium every day. You can take a citrate supplement - also great for calming and muscle cramps and also epsom salt baths. Also if you have ditched lots of processed foods etc then your gut biome is having a complete spring clean so stick with it. Normally I would say 3 weeks to complete a fuel change. Good luck. It is worth it.

I found out about banting yesterday after searching for a keto/ low carb cookbook with yummy recipe. I've been struggling with my weight and insulin resistance since my dad past away (7 years ago) before that I never struggle with my weigh as I always had a healthy light weigh. I try few things even low carb diet but the recipe I found did suit my food habit and my palate ( I'm mostly vegetarian, and don't eat a lot of dairy ). I already lost 10kg during 2018 spring since then I'm struggling as I've reached a 6 month
plateau,

Jonno

Jonno Proudfoot Welcome! You’ve come to the right place. Try one of the intermittent fasting meal plans, they’re great for breaking through the plateau.

Joined this morning as I was dreading Xmas being 1kg away from my highest weight ever, and feeling depressed about dreading Xmas, when my adult children are as excited as when they were little ,and they are all looking forward to a foodathon. I just can’t face a new all time high record. Time to try to alter what I know at heart is a sugar in all it’s obvious and sneaky forms addiction, and this close to Xmas and beyond I need help with staying on track with a low carb eating plan..

System

System Administrator Hey Pauline - welcome. Its going to be great. Lots of people start when they are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Often they succeed the best as they don't want to go back to the way they felt. Make today a day of learning. If you can get to the shops today for some raw apple cider vinegar, and take a tablespoon in water before every meal - this will start restoration. Have a bit of a sort out of the cupboards over the weekend. Chuck obvious temptation. Good luck. Im on Instagram as Banting Brainiac if you want to look at what another Banter is eating (after changing my way in Aug 2015)

Pauline Thank you! Don’t need to shop. Have this already. I know what good food is, but I love all the bad stuff too. Will try that idea out. I was just using it as a salad dressing ingredient.

Hi there, please could you tell me - are KONJAK noodles / rice allowed in banting ?

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs Rice is a grain and red list. You knew that Konjak is a root vegetable - so you might be alright with them... Personally I wouldn't touch the stuff - it looks like a processed food to me, I can't make it in my own kitchen and they have to be rinsed a lot to get rid of the fish smell. This rumour alone has prevented me from trying them. However they are low carb - so if they don't make you wretch or retain water go for it!

I want to cancel my subscription, but Realmeal Revolution will not let me complete the process. Keeps sticking on questions in the survey. Annoying and frustrating. This is my first issue with what has been a great programme. Please help. I’ve lost 58 kg and now want to stop as I no longer use this site. I would like to end this process on a good note!!

Regine

Belginette Hi Richard ! Congratulations on achieving your goal !
You clicked on the blue button to "request" cancellation of the subscription and answered their inquiry . As far as I can guess, they 'll answer you soon (or they will cancel the subscription without even answering). Anyone else know ?

OK I need some serious inspiration. First a bit of background.

I started Banting in mid 2017 and had great success dropping ~15kg by the early part of 2018. So GREAT! I was excited and then it all stopped, I plateaued and tried everything to punch through my weight, tried IF, chucked in a bit of exercise etc.

Then I got sick and I am yet to get back on the bandwagon. A few contingent factors:
- I am having recurrent issues I think triggered by stress with a serious urticaria / inflammatory response in my skin and am seeing an immunologist next about why this is. I suspect it's because I have a very demanding job and get stressed and kind of fall apart at the worst possible times.
- I travel from Aus to Vietnam frequently for said job. Vietnam is the land of the carb and I find it genuinely difficult to stick to any kind of LCHF regime there with language issues (how can I enquire on ingredients) and a world of noodles, rice and extensive sugar use in their cooking.
- A massive family holiday all over Scandinavia for 5 weeks.
- Coming into the silly season lots of social stuff.

I have since put back on around 7kg with all of these contingent factors.

I was sent to a Hepatologist due to slightly elevated liver enzymes and most recently had great improvements due to Banting. She has said though my weight (currently 119kg) means I am showing signs of fatty liver disease (gulp) so am focussed on getting the kg's off again.

So with all of the above I am super keen to really give this a red hot go again but am worried about getting discouraged again. I thought I would just start back at Observation but would love to hear if anyone else has had some of these challenges and what they've done about it. Inspiration please!!

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs You need to 100% commit. Get on You Tube - look up Real Meal Revolution and look up Brians story. That is serious inspiration. Then get on Facebook. Join Rita Venters Banting 7 Day Meal Plans - there are lots of inspiration ladies there, who are achieving. Join Heather Dolan's The Obesity Code. Lots of people there getting off diabetes meds, reversing fatty liver. Surround yourself with the crowd you want to run with. If someone is not on board with you reversing your health issues then you might have to not see them for a bit. You've done this before, I would start straight away. Set a carb limit of 40-50g for the first two weeks and then hit transformation. Stop mucking about. You either want this or you don't. Vietnam also has plenty of steamed fish with ginger and spring onion. It also has plenty of fresh veggies. Google translate is in your pocket. Staying off grains and sugar are the most important ones. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh but no one else will take your health as seriously as you do. It has to come from within.

Hi. New here... feeling a little anxious... finding the app a little overwhelming. Any tips for breastfeeding moms

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs Eat green and orange list freely. Get the Superfood for Superheroes book - its great.

Jonno

Jonno Proudfoot Hey Nabila, welcome. My first bit of advice is to not go too low with the carbs. Many women have supply issues when they go keto while they’re breast feeding. But it something you have to monitor. If your carbs are low and your supply is fine, then go ahead.

Constipation

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs Big subject!! Im guessing this means you are suffering? It can be a normal part of switching from sugar fuelled to fat fuelled. Things that help. More water - are you sufficiently hydrated? More fibre - are you having a decent portion of green veg/ salad / seeds every day? In the first red book it does recommend Jonnos nutty crackers as a snack in the first few weeks for a reason. 400mg of magnesium citrate will also help (also helps with sleep, muscle cramps, sugar cravings so its a multiple win) Epsom salt baths as an alternative. Linseed shots - soak a 1tbsp of linseed in water overnight. Rinse the water off in the morning and add some fresh, then chug like its tequila - or psyllium husk taken similarly. Raw apple cider vinegar when ever you can, sauerkraut. There are others that swear by a tbsp of olive oil in the mornings. Don't worry your body soon adapts. Good luck.

Hi all, I am on restoration and made the meatballs but left out the flour - they have come out very wet. Any suggestions on what I can firm them up without using flour?

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs Psyllium husk - or parmesan - or don't mix with egg next time. I have tried almond flour but its not brilliant.

Anyone else finding meal tracker unworkable? It was ok this morning, but looks frozen now. (7.30pm Brisbane, 11.30pm South Africa) noting registering after about an hour of trying.....

Jonno

I purchased a ketone / BSL machine to keep track of my ketones. More for experiment really and to use in conjunction with tracking meals. Best $50 spent. I have found this easier to ensure 'the fridge is empty and I am using my 'freezer' stores nicely. Only 3 weeks in and 7kg Down, this way of eating is working a treat ! Thanks Real Meal Revolution, I think I'm getting this way of eating.

Cheryl

Cheryl Coombs Cool! now you can really play around with when you go to the gym in a fasted state....

Welcome to the Real Meal Revolution! This site will introduce you to the low-carb high-fat dietary concept of Banting (colloquially known as the Tim Noakes diet), and guide you through every facet of this life-changing health movement. You will learn how a low carb vegetable and high-fat diet is the healthiest and most sustainable weight loss eating plan, how eating fatty foods will lower your cholesterol levels, how sugar and carbohydrates cause insulin resistance, and the meaning and benefits of ketosis..

You may discover that your constant fatigue is a result of your high carb low fat diet; instead of constantly seeking out fat burning foods, you should be enjoying more natural fats like coconut oil and animal fat, while cutting out carbohydrates.

Take control of your health and weight by learning what to eat, how to plan your meals, how to shop, how to cook healthy recipes, and why Banting is the most sustainable healthy lifestyle. With the help of Jonno Proudfoot, you will learn how to change your life by not only improving your quality of life but by lengthening your life in a scientific and enjoyable way.
